Early this morning the Cape Brasilia tanker ran into a muddy area in the San Pablo Bay. At present, there have been no reports of any product released into the environment. The OWCN has contacted key staff and alerted participant organizations throughout California to inform them of the event and begin contingency planning. This planning is key to marshaling the resources needed to respond to any oil spill event. While we hope these plans will not have to be implemented, luckily the OWCN has a large number of dedicated staff and volunteers willing to work during the holiday season to provide care for any affected wildlife.
