Blog post from the RAT rig

Well, trying to get some info on the blog without a computer or Internet coverage, so bear with me on my iPhone entry.

Things here at field stabilization are going well. Scattered reports of oiled birds being observed but none collected so far. We remain ready here at the RAT (recovery & transportation) rig to take in and give “first aid” to birds as quickly as possible. The 5 birds that came through here yesterday were warmed, received an initial quick exam, identified with a temporary leg band, and given oral fluids alternating with easily digestible avian nutritional diet. Transport then took these birds as a group to SFBOWCEC for full care.

Our thanks to East Bay Regional Parks for letting us set up in their service yard so we can care for these birds almost immediately after capture.

More later.
