On January 22, OWCN reached out to our Member Organizations to get a grasp of the number of staff and volunteers who are 24 hr HAZWOPER certified. To ensure that we do not overlook any individuals who need certification or recertification, we asked OWCN Member Organization’s primary contacts to communicate with their trained oil spill responder staff and volunteers and determine the number of people who will need to take either an 8hr HAZWOPER refresher or 24hr HAZWOPER courses in 2010. Anyone that may be involved in Recovery and Transportation (R&T) MUST be up to date on their 24hr HAZWOPER requirements.
The email requested the following information:
- Number of Personnel who need to take 24hr HAZWOPER
- Number of Personnel who need to take 8hr HAZWOPER Refresher
- Month and Year each person’s 24hr/8hr refresher training expires
The feedback provided will allow us to develop a HAZWOPER refresher and 24 hr training schedule for 2010.
At this time we have coordinated with both OSPR’s industrial hygienist and Marine Wildlife Care Center in Humboldt county to host a 24 hr HAZWOPER training. This training will include participants from the North Coast Marine Mammal Center, the Humboldt Wildlife Care and the Marine Wildlife Care Center.
We are looking forward to working with all the Member Organization to ensure that personnel are trained and at the ready.
Please see below for details outlining when to take your refresher. If you have any questions about HAZWOPER trainings or certification process, please feel free to contact us.
