This past Tuesday, Becky, Chris, and I were invited as keynote speakers at the annual conference on Used Oil Recycling/Household Hazardous Waste, hosted by CalRecycle in Sacramento. This conference was well-attended, with over 200 people from various industries, organizations, and agencies from around the state. The title of our talk was, “The Rescuers: Saving Marine Life from Oil Spills” (click here for the conference program). Becky started off with an overview of the OWCN, Chris talked about how oil affects wildlife, and I gave a summary of OWCN involvement during the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. The presentation was well-received and we had a Q&A session after, with lots of interesting questions from the audience.
CalRecycle, officially known as the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, leads efforts on recycling, waste reduction, and product reuse. To learn more about this program, click here.
We feel privileged to have been invited to speak to such a great, and appreciative, group of people.
