Calling all researchers (or any wildlife professional that has an excellent idea, a questioning mind, and an interest in developing a study) –
The OWCN’s annual Request for Proposals is now out. This is the only program of its kind to fund research directly related to better understanding the effects of oil on wildlife – and as the Deepwater Horizon spill has shown us, still remains particularly relevant!
Interested researchers can receive up to $250,000 per year for a maximum of three years to investigate novel approaches to care for oiled wildlife, further understand how oil can impact wildlife species, and develop technologies to improve rehabilitation efforts. Additionally, for people who have limited research backgrounds and/or might have a idea or a project that does not require extensive funding or timelines, our Small Grants Program and Mentorship Program can allocate up to $10,000 for a single year of study through the completion of a relatively simple application process.
Deadlines are coming up fast (pre-proposals applications for larger grants must be in by 6 May 2011; small grant proposals and mentorship projects are due 29 July 2011), so please visit the OWCN’s Research page soon for more info. For the RFP as a PDF copy, please click here.
