Just a quick post to remind our readers of some exciting events in the near future. First, on September 15 the OWCN will be participating in a full-deployment NPREP drill. The command post will be in Ventura, but many of our staff members will be at the LA Oiled Bird Care and Education Center in San Pedro during the drill. If you’d like to attend as an observer, you can email Emily at email@example.com and she will send you an invitation to register. We’re looking forward to the drill, as they are usually really valuable learning experiences (and fun too!).
Not long after the drill, we have our annual rehabilitation conference, Oilapalooza, on October 8th and 9th. It will be in Long Beach this year and we are getting very excited about the great speakers and labs we’re bringing together! There are still a few spots open, so if you are planning on attending, register now. And, if you’ve already registered, make sure you call the Queen Mary and book your room! The Long Beach Marathon will be held on Sunday, Oct. 9th, and hotel rooms in Long Beach are getting harder and harder to come by. We know you love Oilapalooza enough to sleep in your car, but we think you’ll enjoy the Sunday labs more if you get a good night’s sleep beforehand.
It’s always sad to leave the summer behind, but at least this year we have some exciting events to look forward to . We can’t wait to see you all in southern California!
