We are pleased to announce that we now offer the 8-hr HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) Refresher online.
This training is only open to staff and volunteers of OWCN Member Organizations and Affiliated Agencies who have taken the initial 24-hr HAZWOPER or an 8-hr HAZWOPER Refresher within the past two years. This training will be available for one month from today (until Dec. 3, 2011). The next time this training will be offered will be in June 2012.
The current requirements are that people that work within staff roles in a facility or for wildlife recovery and collection in the field during an oil spill are required to be 24-hr HAZWOPER certified, which includes taking the initial 24-hr training, plus an annual 8-hr Refresher. It is this annual Refresher that will be satisfied by this online training.
The goals for this online training are twofold:
1. To provide information that has a more specific wildlife focus within oil spill response in California.
2. To facilitate personnel staying current with their HAZWOPER training, which will increase our collective readiness.
If you wish to take this training, please contact the primary or secondary contacts, or the volunteer coordinator within your organization or agency. They will be able to provide you with the necessary links.
Thank you for your efforts to maintain readiness.
