Happy Friday everyone! Just a few notes this afternoon about upcoming trainings…
Oilapalooza, the OWCN’s Annual Rehabilitation conference, is coming to Santa Cruz this year! We will be holding the conference on October 27 and 28, with lectures on Saturday and wetlabs and workshops on Sunday. This conference is an advanced training and continuing education opportunity for the key staff and volunteers of our Member Organizations, and is not open to the general public. We are very excited about the broad range of information and research about wildlife health and oiled animal rehabilitation that our speakers and instructors will be sharing with us this year.
On another note, our very own Hazing Coordinator, Dr. Winston Vickers, will be presenting a live webinar this month on Hazing Techniques. The lecture will provide an introduction to the techniques and tactics used to prevent wildlife from entering an oil-contaminated area. The webinar is a prerequisite for Winston’s upcoming hands-on hazing training, so if you’re interested in joining our Hazing Team make sure to join us online on Saturday, June 23 at 10am.
If you are interested in attending the conference or the webinar, please contact your Member Organization’s volunteer coordinator or other staff member for more information and registration details.
Have a wonderful weekend!
