Are you ready to oversee the capture of oiled wildlife in California? As I blogged earlier, I will be leaving the OWCN in early June. UC Davis has now posted my job description. If you think you have the skills to oversee the capture and transport of oiled wildlife during oil spill events in California, please check out the job description below. The OWCN is a great group to work for and the job is a critical one.
WILDLIFE FIELD OPERATIONS COORDINATOR – Under the general direction of the OWCN Director, coordinate wildlife capture and transportation activities for the Wildlife Health Center’s Oiled Wildlife Care Network (OWCN). As a key manager for the OWCN’s spill response team, lead wildlife field operations during oil spill response. During non-spill periods, ensure oil spill readiness by leading wildlife recovery training/informational workshops for staff and volunteers throughout California, engage in research activities to ensure ‘best achievable collection and care’ of oiled wildlife, help oversee the use of staff and volunteers in the field, supervise the acquisition and management of supplies necessary for field operations. Assist with teaching and public service activities.
